Turkish Physical Society Space Medicine Student Workshop

The Space Medicine Student Workshop is an educational event that brings together high school students and students studying medicine, engineering, and basic sciences to address the effects of the space environment on human health from a multidisciplinary perspective.

During the workshop, participants will gain basic knowledge on current topics such as the physiological effects of microgravity, the biological consequences of radiation, medical risks encountered in space missions, astronaut health, and life support systems. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the theoretical and practical aspects of space medicine through presentations by expert speakers in the field.

The sessions held during the workshop aim to develop students' scientific thinking skills and support an interdisciplinary work culture. The workshop provides an inspiring learning environment for students interested in space medicine, while also aiming to create a strong academic network for young researchers who wish to work in this field in the future.

1. As part of the Space Medicine Student Workshop, five key panels will be conducted where we model the human body as a physics problem:

Panel 1 – Microgravity and Physical Modeling of Human Physiology: Mathematical effects of decreasing gravity on fluid distribution and cellular mechanics.

Panel 2 – Space Radiation and Biophysics: Tissue interaction of high-energy particles, dosimetry, and biophysical damage mechanisms.

Panel 3 – Mechanobiology and Load Transfer in the Bone-Muscle System: Elasticity and stress-strain analyses of bone structure under mechanical load deficiency.

Panel 4 – Sensor Technologies and Remote Health Monitoring Systems: Biosensor design, signal processing, and real-time data physics in space missions.

Panel 5 – Life Support and Energy Balance in Closed Systems: Thermodynamics, gas exchange systems, and the physics foundations of sustainable life modules.

We invite all high school and university students interested in the intersection of space research and human health to participate in the Space Medicine Student Workshop.

Date: September 1, 2026

Note: Participation is free of charge.

NOTE: ALL HIGH SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS CAN APPLY FOR THE SPACE MEDICINE STUDENT WORKSHOP.
